PVFD Helps Santa Visit Area Homes
On Christmas Eve every year, the PVFD, along with many area businesses and the local "Woodchuck Club" helps Santa to visit area homes.
Santa visits all homes in the City of Petersburg with a porch light on and any home in the Township of Summerfield where the parent's requested a visit ahead of time. Santa hands out bags of goodies and gifts to all children at the visited homes.
The visits are a huge success every year. Santa hands out hundreds of bags of candy and toys to good boys and girls. It's an annual tradition that's been in place since the 1940's! If parents wish for Santa to visit their home on Christmas Eve and they live in the City of Petersburg, they simply need to leave the porch light on. If they live in Summerfield Township, the parents need to call the fire department at 279-2525 and request a visit. We hold trainings and meetings at 6:30 PM on the second and fourth Thursday of every month. That would be the best time to call.
